Tiger fishing on the Zambezi River

Mozambique’s Tete Province is currently experiencing a drought, a situation that, while unfortunate for farmers, brings good news for tiger fishing enthusiasts. Typically, this time of year sees dirty water due to heavy rainfall in the summer months. This causes the Zambezi River’s waters to become muddy making tiger fishing a challenge.

However, the Lower Zambezi River is unusually clear—a once-in-a-decade occurrence that local fishermen are taking full advantage of. For those who have always wanted to experience tiger fishing on the Lower Zambezi, this is the perfect opportunity, offering both excellent fishing conditions and cooler temperatures. Recently, a remarkable 75cm tiger fish was caught just 5 kilometers from Café del Rio restaurant on May 2nd, highlighting the exceptional fishing prospects this season.
